As usual I bit off more than I can chew. Writing my blog in English, then French, then doing the audio version in both languages is a fantastic idea, but it takes the whole day, and of course, I’d rather be visiting a fishing museum or walking on a cliff path than sitting in the bus all day - especially now that spring is here and there are flowers everywhere and fresh air is just so wonderful !!
What you may not all have been able to do is follow my daily photo posts on social media, which are somewhat quicker to produce. So I reckon I’m going to do a version of that here too - just to keep you all up to date. Instagram: @gaelle.and.gus.the.bus
Here’s a quick recap of what I’ve been up to these last couple of months.
Since travelling through the end of winter all around the coast of Normandy enjoying the sea views and World War Two memorials, I finally entered Brittany, which I have been wanting to see since I was little. I was born in Saint Malo, and that town has always managed to hold my heart. So I spent a little time there, before abandoning Gus in a garden for three weeks and taking Dot the bike across the Channel (on a ferry, yes) to Jersey island to visit family and see the daffodils pop up with the beginning of spring.
After that, Bretagne was like a playground - I couldn’t contain myself to a clean itinerary following the coast, instead I zigzagged all over and saw as much as I could before it was time to head back north to the family base. All the while fitting in work days, visiting new people from my social networks and taking in as much as I could of the history and natural sites of the region - and trust me there are so many, I’m just going to have to come back, because I missed most of them. Can’t do it all in one visit !
I have hit a bit of travel fatigue I do admit, so the next leg is just going to be driving the 650km back as fast as I can without touring, over the next ten days. Yes yes, I can hear you saying - you call that fast ? Well I like to wake up late in the morning, take my time with breakfast, drive a couple of hours, work in the afternoon and take it easy in the evening. There’s no rush. I’ve managed to do all that every day and fit in a visit somewhere as well, not ever spending more than one night in any spot. As I was saying in this post at the beginning of my travels.
So here’s to the rest of the journey - to infinity and beyond ! Hope you’re all keeping well and not biting off more than you can chew !
Love from me, here at the end of the world. (Just where I want to be)
